Ida and Frank were married at Ida's home by Bro. Lambright. After Ida and Frank were married, they farmed at Pleasant Ridge in Van Zandt Co. The next year they rented the old McLean place. Separated and Ida returned home. They went back together and that fall went out on the plains to pick cotton. In 1919, they bought the Pierce Corley place. In 1925, they bought a place from Clark Boles and sold the Corley place to Jim Chapman. They bought the old McLean place from Mr. Wofford. (7 acres) There is not a lazy bone in Aunt Ida. She is a tiny person. She did the house work, helped in the field and raised the family. Most falls, they went to West Texas and picked cotton. Frank was a master story teller. He loved to tell tall tales. He got as many laughs out of the stories as his audience. Ida's mother and daddy had moved with her, been there three weeks when her daddy died. Joe and Boots owned logging trucks and hauled logs to the saw mills. It was on one of these trips that a front tire blew as they were coming down a hill, the truck overturned and Chester Lee was thrown under the logs. Uncle Frank is buried at Leagueville. |
