Tom was born near Melrose, TX. Frank and Betty objected to Tom marrying Ida. She was a widow with a son, Walter, and was six years older than Tom. They lived across the road in a new two room plank house. In 1911, they went to Paduca, TX and lived in other areas of West Texas. Tom later married Mary Doxie Hollingsworth, a widow with two sons, C.D. and R.F. Uncle Tom had a habit of saying "pshaw" as he talked. He was affectionately called "Pshaw Tom". He was quiet and good natured. He was a rent farmer most of his life. He had lived in Frankston, TX since 1937. He was a member of the Assembly of God church. His first wife, Ida, is buried at Leagueville. |
