From a letter from Cousin Vinnie- My mother Sallie Barton, was born in Mississippi. Her mother was Rhoda Hughes and father Green Barton. They moved to Louisiana where my mother met and married my father, Russell Dupree. I was about three years old when my grandparents died. I do know Green Barton moved to Henderson County, Texas and that is where he and Grandma died. It was close to Brownsboro. I guess you know where. My mother always told me she was Irish, my daddy was French. I can remember my mother saying my grandfather Green Barton was in the Confederate Army. She could remember a little of when he left and she remembered she was playing in the yard with Eli, Frank, Bill and Tobe when he came back. I have one girl, Oma, but have six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
