Notes

"On January 12, 1845, Ruben Cook bought 160 acres of land in the Reynolds community for forty dollars. His arrival added the Cook family to the Bagwells, Crockers, Chrestmans, Reynoldses (for whom the community was named), and the Saunderses who settled there."(16) Originally this information came from Reynolds Publicity Committee, "Settlement of Reynolds," The Monitor-Herald, July 6, 1972. The Reynolds community is located 8 miles northeast of Pittsboro, Calhoun County, Mississippi in the northern Schoona River Valley.(16)

So we know that some of the Chrestman's of Calhoun County arrived before 1845. Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, which is in that area, was founded October 7, 1844. An M. Chrestman was a church clerk.(16)
