Johnnie was killed by a fellow by the name of Solomon Britton. The killing was over Mr. Britton wanting to marry the oldest girl and Johnnie didn't want him to. They didn't marry and the girl lost her mind over the killing.

Johnnie was a drummer and made all the country stores around Bruce. After Johnnie's death, Fannie moved her family to Oxford. She educated all the children, Kermit made a lawyer, one a high school teacher, one has a business in Memphis, TN, and one is a farmer.
