Notes
|
When Wash and Ada married his only property was a horse his dad had given him. He owned over a section of land and was a very prosperous farmer. He built the first gin in Bruce, Mississippi in 1929. He helped his children pay for a good farm of their own. After his death, his grandson (Billy Wayne Chrestman) and granddaughter (Bobbie Jean Chrestman Turner) bought the home place of 161.5 acres of land for $21,500.00. Jean owns the house place with 16 acres of land and Billy the rest. His wife and each child was left $11,000.00. Inheritance tax and the lawyer got most of this. Wash went to the Bruce hospital the 17th of May, 1950. He was operated on that day for appendicitis. During the six weeks he was in the hospital, he developed a kidney infection. Then came home and lived until August 9, 1950 and died with a heart attack. He was buried in Mt. Moriah cemetary August 11, 1950. |
